UI/UX design for apps and websites that people find easy to use
UI/UX design is app and website design: how your app or website looks, and how easy it is to use. Good design helps customers find what they need and sign up, book or buy without getting stuck. At Phoned-Tech, we design apps and websites in English and Hebrew. It starts with a free 30-minute call, then we agree the plan in writing, and you click through your new design before anything is built.
What UI and UX mean
UI (user interface) is what people see: the layout, colors, text and buttons. UX (user experience) is how using it feels. Can people find what they came for? Do they finish, or give up halfway?
You need both, because a beautiful screen that confuses people still loses you customers. Our designers work side by side with the people who will build it, so the design you approve fits your budget and your timeline.
Is UI/UX design right for your business?
It's usually worth it when one of these sounds familiar:
- Customers start to sign up, book or buy, then give up halfway.
- Customers keep calling to ask how to do simple things on your site or app.
- Your system grew one screen at a time, and now no two screens look or work the same.
- Your staff avoid a system you paid for and go back to spreadsheets.
- You want to see and try an app idea before paying to build it.
What you get
A project usually includes some of these:
- A clear map of who will use it and what they need to do, agreed with you before anyone draws a screen.
- A clickable preview (also called a prototype) that you can try on your computer or phone before anything is built.
- Finished designs for every screen of your website, online system or iPhone and Android app, including what people see while a page loads or when something goes wrong.
- A friendly start for new users, so a new account never opens on an empty screen.
- Your own library of ready-made design parts (a design system), so every new screen matches the rest and is quicker to build.
- Your brand's look, carried across your website and app.
- Screens for AI assistants and chatbots that show where each answer came from.
Easy for everyone: accessibility, Hebrew and English
Accessible design means people with disabilities can use your website or app too: text is easy to read, buttons are big enough to tap, and screens work with a keyboard or a screen reader (software that reads the screen aloud).
In Israel, website accessibility is also required by regulation. We plan it in from the start, and check it against the international standard (WCAG) before handover.
We design in Hebrew and English, and the Hebrew version, read right to left, gets its own design work: menus, arrows, numbers and sentences that mix both languages each need their own care.
Who you'll work with
Phoned-Tech has been building software since 2013, from Maalot-Tarshiha, Israel. We're a small team of 7+ senior engineers. We've built and launched more than 40 systems, and four out of five clients come back for a second project. The people you talk to on the first call are the ones who work on your project.
How a design project works
How long it takes depends on the size of the job. When we also build it, most projects take 4 to 16 weeks: about 4 weeks for a small first version, and 16 weeks or more for a large online system.
Risky parts, like sign-up and payment, get a clickable preview first, because fixing a preview costs far less than rebuilding something finished.
- Free 30-minute call (about a week): tell us about your business and your customers. Within the week, you get a short written summary to keep, even if you don't hire us.
- Plan and price (1 to 2 weeks): we map the main screens and the steps people take, and set the basic look. You get the written plan and the price before the main work starts.
- Design and build (2 to 12 weeks): we work in two-week rounds and show you progress every week. When we also build it, what you see each week are real screens that already work.
- Launch (about a week): a final accessibility check, then you get all the design files along with the finished website or app.
- Ongoing care (optional): new screens and steady improvements as your business grows.
What it costs and how we set the price
There's no price list for UI/UX design, because no two projects are alike. First we get to know your business, then you get a written plan and a clear price before the main work starts.
Most projects are paid in two-week rounds. Before each round, you get a written list of what will be done, so there are no surprises. A small, clearly defined job, like a one-page website, can have one fixed price.
After launch: the designs are yours
The design files (made in Figma, a popular design tool) are kept in your own account. When we build it too, the code, the cloud account and your web address are all in your company's name.
If you only need the design, we hand it to your developers ready to build, or we can design it and build it for you. Either way, we can keep looking after it once it's live.
When we're not the right fit
A small, senior team isn't right for every design job. If yours is one of these, we'll tell you on the first call:
- Print, packaging or ad campaigns: a graphic design studio or an ad agency is a better fit.
- Something a ready-made template already does well: use the template and save your money.
- Lowest price above all: a junior team or a freelancer will usually quote less.
App & website design: common questions
How much does UI/UX design cost?
It depends on what you need, so there's no price list. After a free 30-minute call, we get to know your business, and then you get a written plan and a clear price before the main work starts. A small, clearly defined job can have one fixed price.
How long does it take?
It depends on the size of the job. Expect about a week to get to know your business and 1 to 2 weeks of planning, then two-week rounds where we show you progress every week. With building included, most projects take 4 to 16 weeks.
Who owns the designs?
You do. The design files are kept in your own account. If we build it too, the code and your web address are in your company's name as well.
Do I need to know anything about design or technology?
No. You know your business and your customers, and that's what we need. We explain everything in plain words, and you see the design as clickable previews you can try yourself.
What do you need from me?
Your knowledge and a little time. Tell us who your customers are and where they get stuck; screenshots of apps you like are useful too. It also helps if someone from your side looks at the progress with us each week.
Can you only design it, for my own developers to build?
Yes. They get a neat, organized design file showing every screen, how each button looks in every situation, and notes on accessibility. We can also stay available to answer their questions while they build.
Can you improve my existing app or website without starting over?
Yes, step by step. We find where people get stuck and where screens don't match, then improve the screens one at a time, so your customers can keep using it the whole time.
